Etymology & Origin of Words

Updated: Jun 29, 2021

As per Britannica, Frequency, in physics, is the number of waves that pass a fixed point in unit time; also, the number of cycles or vibrations undergone during one unit of time by a body in periodic motion. A body in periodic motion is said to have undergone one cycle or one vibration after passing through a series of events or positions and returning to its original state.

Our ears can listen to frequency in the range of 20-20,000 Hertz. Specific alphabets have specific wavelength/frequency that is why we hear them differently and uniquely (they have different phonetic sound) and when those alphabets combine to form words then those words have a specific wavelength/frequency too. So these specific words have a specific energy and a specific sound.

In Hinduism and many other cultures, specific set of words or 'mantras' or simply hymns (Could be a surah from the Quran, a verse from the Guru Granth Sahib, Gospel from the Bible or a Shamanic prayer etc.) are used by people to achieve different purposes. For example, there is a mantra which the sacred texts say is for protection, similarly there will be a mantra which will be for say prosperity etc. These mantras carry a specific energy which as per these sacred texts effect us in a specific manner.

"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration." - Nikola Tesla

This reminds me of my child hood, when elders of the house used to always scold me for using swear words or even when not giving respect to an elder. Probably it was hard coded into them by their elders that swear words were low energy words and should be avoided in order to stay happy?

So what do we do about homonyms then? I mean similar sounding words but having different meanings is going to be tricky with respect to the energy they carry? Lets dive into this and see how simple manipulation of words can keep the energy intact although change the meaning of the word and later get absorbed into our everyday use.

Lets take the word Tesla. It constitutes of the letters T, E,S,L & A. These letters form the spelling of the word 'Tesla'. The word 'spelling' is a derivative of the word 'spell' which in turn means a word or a set of words that have supernatural powers (energy). This in turn again solidifies the point that words carry energy and whatever we speak has an effect on us and the environment around us. The word 'gospel' means glad tidings/good news. The gospels were the messages of Jesus to his followers and for the world. The etymology of the word gospel leads us to two words, 'good' & 'spell', which effectively means that those gospels are good spells or words which carry positive energy for the human kind.

I will cover few of the very basic yet most intense and relatable words and their etymology in order to understand how over the period of years the English language has been screwed up.

Example 1

We wake up every morning and go to our job on weekdays to earn a living until the weekend arrives.

Lets break down this sentence to understand the meaning behind this sentence.

- A 'wake' is a familial gathering for the dead before the funeral, which implies when one says, "I just woke up" it energetically means you are dead (symbolically) which is a zero energy state since we are neither creating energy nor consuming or transferring.

- 'Morning' is a homonym of 'mourning' which is the state of mind when you attend a wake, the state of mind of being in grief over someone's death. - 'Weekdays' is a double homonym actually. Weak days & weak daze, meaning we are weak on the days labeled as weekdays and weak also because we unable to think clearly or stunned (daze).

- 'Job' - The verb Jones' Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names derives the name Job from the verb איב ('ayab) and that the name is a passive form and thus means 'The Persecuted'. Renowned theologian Gesenius agrees with Jones and understands Job as "object of enmity"

- 'Earn' - The homonym for it is 'urn', which is nothing but a closed vessel for collecting the ashes of the dead.

- 'Weekend' - The homonym for this is 'weakened', we are so weakened by the 5 'weak' days that we arrive at the last 2 days of the week, 'weakened'.

This example is one of the most common how we have been conditioned via subliminal subconscious programming using words and their energy.

Example 2:

So, river banks used to be (and still are) the most fertile areas and civilisations were formed usually on the banks of a river. In addition, they used to trade/barter with food mostly. Hence food was their money. That is why we call banks as places where we store money.

Rivers flow in currents so that is how we got the word 'currency' , different rivers different currents hence different currency.

Example 3:

'Nice'

The word nice has a very interesting etymology.

It derives from the 13th century Old French word 'nice' which meant foolish, ignorant, senseless. The Old French word in turn was derived from a Latin word 'nescius' which meant ignorant or unaware. The Latin word in turn was originated from a Latin word 'nescire' which when broken gives 'ne' meant not and 'scire' meant to know.

And now to think what its present meaning is and how it is used in day to day vocabulary of ours is astounding.

Example 4:

'Abra-Kadabra'

Abra Kadabra in Aramic means 'I create as I speak'. Aramic was highly influential in Latin words and later Latin became influential in English. It was supposed to be a sacred language and argued as the language in which Jesus gave his sermons. So when a magician says, "Abra Kadabra and this woman will disappear" the woman disappears, it is a trick in reality but in order to pull the trick without people noticing how its done, he energetically charges his words and uses them to fulfill his goals. (Law of manifestation/affirmation in a nutshell)
